Favorite Holiday

My favorite holiay is Halloween just from one month ago! Actually in my home country, just very few people celerbrate 31, October Halloween. I have not been interested in celerbrating Halloween before come to U.S., so last month was real and first Halloween to me! I wanted to spend special Halloween because american regard it as big annual festival. I thought I should enjoy american culture since I am in the america now. I love everyone dressed up specially and hanging out with any people just met on the street. Last Halloween, I went to the Las Vagas wearing costume of bunny girl! I was so excited that I'm gonna wear unusual costume like that and go around without shrinking. Just only walking around gave me a great pleasure. There was so many people who wore funny and awesome costumes. We hung out with many people praising each other's costume and taking pictures together to commemorate.
Of course, I like knocking off school work and taking rest, but most of holiday in my home country is a little bit boring and uninteresting to me. Usually I just visit relatives, chat with them, watch TV, eat some tranditional food...Of coures I like those job either, but it's not really exciting events. I love pretty much Halloween that is full of the people, energy, noise, passion, and excitement than quite, normal, and somewhat boring holidays.

Then strengest thing I have ever eaten

Actually, I have never eaten something special and strange food yet. Last year, My dad recommend me to try eating dog meat that is very popular in Korea . But I coudln't swallow that. I almost throw up.. It was really disgusting to me because I love dogs and I had raised one. So I will talk about the strangest food I have ever heard. Maybe all of them are chinese food. China has a lot of interesting and unique food as large population and huge land. I watched through TV that Chinese eat mosquito's eye and chicken's tongue and monkey's brain. It sounds both very interesting and shocking! I can't imagine how it taste at all ! I'm really curious about taste of them . I heard those taste good and some are very expensive. I really want to try ,but maybe I would hesitate a moment. The stangest and most shocking food I know is...an unborn baby flesh..... I heard that just today! from my chinese classmate. At first, I didn't believe it . I thought I misunderstand or he use wrong expression because both we are not good at English . Or he lie to scare me. But I just searched internet before .. And it was true! Of caurse the baby was not killed for food, but when I saw pictures about it, I feel very pitiful than when I saw the dog meat. Actally I went to China 2 years ago, but I really regret I didn't try any special food like that(except baby!) so if I can travel China again I will try !!

A scary experience

In my hometown, there are a lot of a sexual crime. All of woman could be victim from children to the elderly. When I was in the third grade of the junior high school, I was nearly attacked. One day I overslept because I got a bad cold. So I went to the school about 2 hours later than usual. To reach the school, I had to go through a narrow lane. On that day, heavy rain fell and there were no people on the street. When I was passing the lane, I saw one man was walking behind me without umbrella. I was somewhat scary, but I acted as if I wasn't affected. Suddenly that man laid a his hand on my shoulder, and then he said " Let's hold up your umbrella together." then he tried to draw me to somewhere. I screamed for help and hit the crazy psycho. Fortunately, at that right moment, one guy was around there, and hearing my screaming he came running. And then the psycho ran away. It was the most scary experience I had ever. And I didn't tell the story to my parents because they will worry me too much and maybe they don't allow me to play with my friends outside.

Dream

My dream job is being a very competent computer programmer free lancer in the world. Actually, my major is computer science.I know that major is very rare for girls, and most of girls don't like that kind of major concerned with machine. And I was one of them. But the more I learn about programming, the more I am fascinated by that. I really enjoyed the programming class, and each semester I got high grade. And to be a international computer programmer, I decided to study abroad. So that's why I am in USA now. And one of the reason I choose the USA for studing is that I want to get a job in Silicon Valley.

However, it had not been a dream from my childhood. If I could choose my major again (go back to the past), I will choose the nursing science. In fact, I applied for admission to another 2 university's nursing department, but I failed due to low score of an entrance examination. That was an unaviodable circumstance to choose computer sciece as my major. Although I know this job cannot make much money and being a nurse would be very tired life, I always hoped be a nurse since I was child.I like a job which can meet many people during work, and I like taking care of someone who in need. Also, I like a nurse's uniform too :)

The first imression of california

My first day is about one month ago from today. I remember that I wandered from place to place at LAX airport. All of the signs were written with english, so I can't figure out where I am, where I should go, and which line I should stand. My excitement was changed to tension and confusion little by little. But many kind america people helped me. The person who I want to say thank you again the most is a man from Hwaii. Unfortunately, I forgot his name, but I know he is professor at CSUF. he carried my baggage to my apartment and help me about move-in problem for an hour. Like this, my first thought of california was that most of people are kind. Whenever I enter buildings, people hold the door for me and wait until I get into completely. Also they always smile when I come across them. In addition, I love the weather here. In Korea, the weather is too humid, So I had hated going out during the day because of swear. yet, I don't have to hate the daytime anymore. In contrast, one inconvenient thing is that downtown is located too far from my home. Because I don't have a car, It's hard to go shopping or go to the movie or anything. Also I couldn't look around the Fullerton yet and I had to spend boring weekend at home. In my hometown, subway and bus is very popular transportation, so I could go anywhere by them in Korea. My poor english skill is another problem. Not only I can't express my idea exactly, but also I can't understand their idea. So it's very hard to make a american friends. But my roommate and several american friends who listen attentively to my terrible english are giving me a confidence and possibility.

I miss korean food so much. A few days ago, I could go to korean restaurant thanks to my roommate. It was the best memory for one month. But to speak honestly, I miss my family little. Because my parents are kind of a conservative, having my own life leaving them is very interesting to me. I can hang out with friends until midnight, and I don't have to listen to their scolding anymore. Sometimes, I feel sorry to my parents when I call them to get more money pretending to missing them....

Actually, I totally satisfied with new life in california. I can't sure this feeling would be last long, but it's obvious that I will miss california after I go back to Korea.

Hello, I'm Sun who came here:califfornia as an exchange student from Sungshin women's university of South Korea. In truth, I'm not ALP student, but I applied this class to improve my poor writting skill.

About 3 weeks has passed from my first day of in the US. Last night before my flight to US that I really hoped for, my heart was pounding so hard that I could hardly sleep. But I found that It's too hard to be adapted to unfamiliar circumstance because of lack of communication capability. I think I need great confidence and more preacticing.

My future dream is being a competent computer programmer and then getting a job at the Silicon Valley. So that's why I'm here to study english, have a broad mental view on life, get a great experience.

And next summer, Canada and USA were second destination, Banff of Canada was a never to be forgotten view.
